They're also adding a flamethrower turret in 0.13, and stated that the revisit on the other turrets would follow at some point. I am hopeful that more types will be added though.

S-Rails or something similar would be a nice addition. I often do find that I need to nudge a rail over by a grid to make things line up neatly and easily, yet can't because of having to use 2x bends instead. Sure good design would be the answer, but our factories evolve.. Additional track component...

You don't need a mod, just click on the cargo wagon, then the red X at the bottom right, and you can block however many slots you wish, works with boxes too :)

oh god, yes... both. Laser and burning/fire damage to building :D and then plantable trees.... build a nice forest around enemy base and buuuuurn it :D The long game approach, but I'd try doing it!!
