Re: Endgame Content Concept Discussion

I'm glad that i can share that bit of knowledge. I'm still unsure about the entire Diamond Idea... but while reading your proposal i thought a bit about the fusion Reactor. How about creating a fusion reactor and a sci-fi Energy shield (we cant make those, yet).... it's kinda like the Missile Defens...

Re: Endgame Content Concept Discussion

uhm, where do i start... I guess with that the Sun (and all other Stars for that matter) isn't in a state of fission, it's fusion. I agree that we could use some supertech for endgame stuff, but the idea is kinda... flimsy? It's somewhat far off from the real world. Creating a small Sun is actually ...

Re: Attacking biters with turrets makes all weapons pointles

Tower creep likely will not be possible after combat is redone (hopefully at 0.12). The Devs already stated that it's likely they will implement some "tainted land" like with the Zerg in SC2, making it impossible to creep close enough to just tower creep your way towards the nests (source: https://f...

Re: 2^x vs y*10^x

Voted 10. While i do agree that Po2 has a few advantages in some rare scenarios, i dont believe that the game will suffer much from losing those. On the other hand, 10 allows for way easier and faster management of multiple large stacks compared to Po2. But thats already all beeing pointed out somew...

Re: Friday Facts #37

Really like the update. A very few sounds seem a tiny bit of from what it expected, but overall i feel like 90% are really good and not annoying in the slightest sense. Like the new graphics for radar, steam engine etc. I know it will be a stony, featureless road to multiplayer, but maybe you can th...

Re: Friday Facts #36

nooooooo, my failsafe failed... the plan was to play Factorio if StarCitzien fails me... but now my failsafe failed me... damnit. *goes in corner and cries*
Guess i'll play Prison Architect then.
Any chance that you can release 0.10 before friday as experimental?

Re: Peace with Aliens

Like others already stated, i don't see the Biters as intelligent enough for trade. But since its on the table, i have a suggestion, even when its a bit off from the initial proposal. The biters always felt a bit out of place for me... like they dont really belong on the planet. This idea was furthe...

congratz! I personally think that the amount of work you've put into polishing and bugfixing might pay off now. Factorio is likely one of the most bug free alphas i've ever played.

Re: Building train bridge

I agree, tunnels don't serve the same purpose as in OTTD, unless you planning a huge railnetwork which you won't need in 95% of the playthroughs. Bridges on the other hand, would fit very good. I always remember those pesky little "swamps" that i have to build around becuase of a few 2-6 tile wide m...

Re: Friday Facts #29 So many ideas

+1 for Drury. Feature creep is a scary thing and yes, i've also witnessed games struggling to implement too many to fast leading to a overall less enjoyable gaming experience. I put all my trust in our Dev's to not become victims of the creep. There are many good suggestions out there, but i guess 9...

Re: A few ideas that could be implemented.

With elements i mean the different game elements. The main theme/element IMHO obviously is automation, ressource management and survival. Other elements are combat, Real Time Strategy (although that one is more a planned thing), Multiplayer. I'm not sure if the entire stuff surrounding food producti...

Re: A few ideas that could be implemented.

I'm still very unsure about the whole eat/living thing. The underlying theme of Factorio seems to be automation and i do believe it excels at that. Most (but not all) things around the eat/living theme distract from the one thing that makes Factorio unique amongst the hundreds of indie titles. That ...

Re: Electric energy

It also gives so much more power that the only reason we don't have fusion power plants on earth is because we can't afford to be unsure of anything, because a problem in the process could blow a much bigger hole than what most fusion bombs are capable of (H bombs for the ones that don't know). Jus...

i also like the new belts. But like SSilk pointed out, it can be very hard to identify the type later in the game.

Hurray to the slight unnerf of production modules, i'll test them out ASAP. I got a good feeling that they finally are in the right spot, we'll see.

Re: Galactic Market

Although i also envisioned some trading "events", i don't think that player trade is that useful in the current game setup (and it would take a big amount of work to make it happen). Like others mentioned, we need all of the ressources anyway. Some small scale trade options would be nice for co-op p...

Re: Heavy/Light Oil.

yeah, cracking is the way to go. A little heavy oil for lubricant (electric engines for bots, express belts), rest gets cracked to light oil. Light oil makes good solid fuel which is nice for everything that needs to burn fuel (trains, boilers, smelting). Any surplus gets cracked to petroleum gas, f...
