Interesting... I just had the exact same issue in 0.17.1 (Holding out on upgrading because of my server).
However, an ALT-TAB, click on the desktop, ALT-TAB back fixed it for me, if that helps.

Nice! I hope that the oil is supposed to be closer than that in the LAN party. That was insane! It took what, 2 hours with a team of 30-something players to find oil?
