I had a simulare problem with copper and iron. I solves this by make a passiv provider chest. The inserter is connected to the logic network. When lesser than 500 hundred items (belts) are in the network, he insert some into the chest. Now i have an request chest, with an inserter to put said item b...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

[edit2:] I see what you want to do with this quote, but that is actually just a side aspect, at least for me, it is mainly the thing that the current "steam is now modeled as a different entity" is an ugly workaround for the problem, that they can't use the existing properties of the game...

I think this post from https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=47963 benefits this discussion: I underline what is great. Boilers in real life are not 100% efficient. Real life boilers have the following efficiencies: "Stoker" fired, commonly seen on locomotives and historic b...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

I just finished work and...Thats escalate quickly.... Everyone had disussed about the steam, but this discussion gets a little bit steamy (trying my first english joke). Now we throw bad words and already see nobody discusses anymore, and i dont read the last posts because of nagging. I think we hav...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

From a games perspective, the temperature is the only meaningful difference between water and steam. From a games perspective, having to change steam into a separate fluid for the sole purpose of being able to define it as an ingredient in a recipe, only shows that the game lacks the means to prope...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

So we actually need special pipes to handle steam as it comes in Factorio, as the standard water pipes won't do, right? :D It would be too complicated for most players in vanilla game. However, I have thought that for example Bob's mods, which have more than 10 different tubes, could use different ...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

So I dare to say, turning carbon from coal or so into diamonds that needs unimaginable pressure, and water turning from liquid to gas and back at room temperature and without any pressure, is not exactly comparable. (water can even turn from gas to solid (provided it's below zero°) and from solid t...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

Bottom line: - water and steam ARE the same thing, H20 I just want to say, Diamond and graphite are the same thing, C. But of course we know they are different. I dont know if we can turn coal to oil in the real life, but i think using steam is make sense because steam is chemically more active tha...

And insolation to reduce heat loses. Which would dobble the pipes diameter :D

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

I dont really understand your problem with this too. It is nice having steam as a seperate entity. It is to be expected that your build could not work anymore in the next version. It is important to see all this from an engineering standpoint because it is an engineering game. And from this standpo...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

You dont want to put steam directly into water. You will mix the Temperatur but you will produce .. translated it should be "steam punches". Temperature exchangers would have two seperated fluid cycles, they , the fluids, wouldnt have conntact directly. Steam punches are a bad for the pipes...
