Re: Friday Facts #257 - NPE/Campaign update

Wuhu new terrain type! I can already see my visions of a Dune 2000 scenario for Factorio not being a dream anymore. ^^

Auto Backup Save Files for Experimental Versions

I think everyone using experimental knows the risk, but doing manual backups of all your save files EVERYTIME there comes a new patch? That's kinda annoying looking at how fast you can churn those out :P Therefore pls implement an auto backup function for save files either on experimental version ch...

And if you do want to use a thousand-hour-world to test, backups are your friend :D
Actually this should be so easy to implement i'll write a feature suggestion for this.

Re: Version 0.16.46

If that is a concern, then only use the stable version....
YES. Someone who get's why there are STABLE and EXPERIMENTAL Versions! I mean if experimental versions had no risk of something going wrong why not declare them stable right away... That would totaly defeat their purpose.

Re: [MOD 0.14.x] Bottleneck

Is there any way to make the bottleneck icons individual to each user in MP? Nope Woot? I didn't even realise the bottleneck feature was shared. But are you sure? I mean, maybe it's possible since 0.15 with the per player settings in the mod setting tab? I'm not exactly sure how those are supposed ...

Re: Barrels hold too much liquid.

Yes, it is true that empty barrels do mean that every round trip is half fluid and half empty barrels. But that's true of fluid wagons too - half of every round trip is going to be an empty fluid wagon. I think you misunderstood Tev. He/She didn't mean sending back empty cargo wagons, but instead u...

Re: Barrels hold too much liquid.

To quote myself... ... I personally belive that, if there exists dedicated infrastructure that has only a single use case, it should be more effective than any other alternative. This is pretty much the main point. You can use cargo wagons for none fluids. Yet it is more effective to transport fluid...

Only the pollution generated by the boiler. you could also try reducing pollution directly on the machines.

I like this idea. Would also go well with a number of higher difficulty mods who significantly increase biter activity with pollution.

Re: [Request] Solar panel heat pipe

Well i wouldn't mind actually getting new graphics for actual solar collectors instead of photovoltaic arrays, but that would require way more work and i was interested more into the gameplay implications this mod could bring than the actual graphics for now. ^^

[Request] Solar panel heat pipe

So the disscussion about solar panels being op and whatnot has been around for sometime and numerous solutions have been made. But since 0.15 we actually have heat pipes and i think it would be a great replacement for the current solar panels if instead of just generating power, they would instead u...

Re: I'm a dingus

If you mean left and right clicking entities to remove or add them, yeah that's been around for sometime. If you mean removing all entites by click their summary at the top, no that's new since 0.15. If you mean adding entirely new entites after the blueprint has been created... wtf? That's possible?

Barrels hold too much liquid.

I think barrels can hold way too much liquid as is, and the amount a single barrel can contain should be reduced by... maybe half? Maybe more. Because... ... you can fit 75k liquid into a fluid wagon, but 100k into a normal wagon using barrels. (40 stacks * 10 barrels per stack * 250 liquid per barr...

Re: [0.15.9] atom bomb research

From a gameplay point of view it probably doesn't matter, because by the time you're able to research atomic bomb, you could've researched explosive rocketry thrice over. From a logical point of view I'm in favor of making it a prequisite. You DO need to know how to make a rocket explode correctly b...

Re: [MOD 0.14.x] Bottleneck

The problem with having it bound to Alt_L is that it gets out of sync with the regular extra information (i.e., is off when the other is on and vice versa). That should be relatively easy to fix. If bottleneck is never shown at beginning of a new game and the last state is propagated through save g...

Okay, so i started reading this thread because i too belive solar panels to be somewhat boring/cheaty/no-brainer compared to the rest of the game. And as any good reader should do i started at the start of the thread. And there i noticed that "The Phoenixian" proposed the most sensible sol...

Re: [MOD 0.14.x] Bottleneck

Well the hotkey is gone and I'm sad, =( It's very time consuming to go to the options menu and look for the correct setting every single time i want to turn of bottleneck (which hapopens quite frequently). My personal suggestion would be to either introduce a new empty hotkey setting in the controls...
