I think I was put out by the static effect! Fair enough, I was expecting I would zoom back to normal mode again but I can see the map mode being useful. Maybe a potential tutorial pop-up explaining it?

Reproduction: Have a Mac Book Pro 10.10.5 (Yosemite) Start a freeplay/new game, press M to get to map view, zoom in back to normal view. This problem is more subtle: I was feeding furnaces with ore and coal. The burner inserter takes whatever's in front and that might not be a combustible item. Stuck... http://i.imgur.com/Yaxk5MA.png Perhaps only limit the first reach to wood, coal and solid fuel? I haven't tried but maybe rocket fue...

Maybe you would also have to change your user name or the path file to make it work. I think I'll wait for the next patch!

It might be interesting to see what you two got in the system logs.
You can open the Console from Applications->Utility->Console and make sure you select "All Messages" on the top left hand side. Then run Factorio 0.12.0 and that's what popped up in my System Log.
