Re: Alt-Tabbing for realsies no takebacks

Okay... That obviously works for you but not for me. Let me check where the issue is then. (SOME DEBUGGING LATER) Right, so. I found the difference between our setups. As it happens, I have the classic Alt-Tab behavior enabled (Registry key: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr...

Re: Alt-Tabbing for realsies no takebacks

If you only have two windows open, then yes, that is what happens. Edit: or, if your factorio is not fullscreen. Who plays Factorio in a window?!? However. Close all windows. Open Chrome, open Edge, open notepad. Alt-tab. You will see Edge. Alt-tab. You will see notepad. Alt-tab. You will see Edge. ...

Re: Alt-Tabbing for realsies no takebacks

You press Alt-Tab again, the current window goes away, Factorio window comes back. Simple, linear, basic Windows behavior. My windows doesn't behave like that, Alt-Tab just changes focus and brings the window to the front. No windows are minimized. And if you alt-tab again you go back to Factorio? ...

Alt-Tabbing for realsies no takebacks

A long long time ago, Factorio used to Alt-Tab like most Windows applications: you press Alt-Tab, the Factorio window goes away, another window takes its place. You press Alt-Tab again, the current window goes away, the Factorio window comes back. Simple, linear, basic Windows behavior. Then an upda...

So you don't want to pay $30 because its too much, so you propose its $30-45 instead. Ok.
Yes, that's exactly it.

If you cannot make sense of it, well, that's probably a good thing for you.

Re: Friday Facts #367 - Expansion news

Ponder... Ponder ponder... Ponder ponder ponder... Okay, so: I don't want to pay 30$ for the new Factorio DLC. It' not that I don't think it will be worth it (it will, because of course it will), I just have a natural aversion to paying more for a single DLC than I did for the base game. Which, cons...

Re: Friday Facts #348 - The final GUI update

Wait... The final GUI update? So... The rest of the UI will remain untouched? - No little button to toggle the minimap on and off without going through three menus each time? - No scrolling the contents of the logistic networks and chests, or hovering to see the tooltips? - No additional zooming out...

Re: Friday Facts #335 - Scenario changes, Damage effect filtering

yep, it's called batching, and they refuse to do it. We already do it: https://factorio.com/blog/post/fff-317 and wayyyy moree. I don't know if you already considered this but... As far as i understand, you are moving all biters that get aggroed, from point A to point B, independently. This of cour...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

I agree they've certainly read the heavy oil suggestion and seemingly disagree with it through silence, but given how nice an idea it seems, people wonder what their thoughts on it are. Though we could have also simply missed their thoughts on it (pls link). [...] Adding cracking with basic oil pro...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

The whole reason for these changes is to make the game easier for "new players". There have been more than 1.5 to 2 million copies of Factorio sold, and the majority of those players managed to process oil. It took me a few attempts to get it right and I learned and enjoyed the experience...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

My two cents: If the basic oil only returns methane, it should at least provide a polymerization process to convert methane into heavy oil for lubrication. This unlocks the robots and smooths things out for veteran players. The lack of light oil isn't as big a deal, IMO, it can probably wait for adv...

which means a conservative player trying to reduce pollution is going to get absolutely destroyed. O RLY minimal.png That base has a pollution rating of 27 after I pull down the assemblers and start research. My kill count at the end? 62. the amount of bugs one would expect from that setup In 0.17? Or are you using your 0.16 expectations? Either, really: To clarify: I always played a very conservative, low-pollution style, which means I expect I won't see much of a difference in freeplay: the bug fix increasing the strength of the e...

the amount of bugs one would expect from that setup In 0.17? Or are you using your 0.16 expectations? Either, really: I went back to the tutorial armed with my foreknowledge of how the scenario works, and set up something about 20 times more polluting. Won without a hitch, and the waves were actual...

Re: Version 0.17.4

The combat portion of the campaign starts out as an only mildly accelerated representation of how much combat you can expect, building a given factory that close to a biter base. You have a limited amount of space, and you pretty much have to build right here, just a short distance from a substanti...

Re: Version 0.17.4

I have been playing factorio since... 0.12 or so? Today I downloaded 0.17 and started the tutorial. Playing as a complete noob, here is my feeling when, about 1/3 of the way through the research of logistics packs, a horde of biters started eating through my defenses - which, at that point, had run ...

I like Minecraft. Bought it back in beta. And if it didn't take more resources than freaking fallout 4, I would happily play it to this day :P

And Drury: I did say there was a reason I'd been putting off the upgrade :P

Re: Friday Facts #182 - Optimizations, always more optimizations

It's not always a matter of budget :) The amazing potato is essentially a netbook, and a relatively recent one at that (2015). I have bigger and better hardware, but it doesn't follow me around like the potato :) Incidentally, crossgrading from 32 to 64 bits was... Less than straightforward. By comp...

Re: Friday Facts #182 - Optimizations, always more optimizations

Rseding91: Yep, you were right: I get 7 +/- 2 fps on the non-accelerated driver. I could live with, say, 20 +/- 5, but 5 is a bit on the low side :P On the accelerated driver, however, which I eventually managed to reinstall by downgrading the kernel, I get a perfectly playable 40-50. I really hope ...
