Re: Friday Facts #407 - Automating a soundtrack
I really liked track 1 and 3, but found track 2 boring. Everyone has different tastes, track 1/3 is probably not music for mainstream listeners. I hope you keep some of the edge in the final music. How that music fares in the long run, who knows? It could get boring fast even though being somewhat r...

Re: Friday Facts #403 - Train stops 2.0
Can't await getting 2.0 :) Great job. Larger maps, planets ... and now we get remote driving. So you are aware of "it takes too long to get to a problem". remote driving is a good idea. But it is only a small solution to a bigger problem. To travel between planets in 2.0 or Space Explorat...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
So, we are circling back to the original issue. What do we do with excess stone without voiding it? Void it? The game is a sandbox. One player will build roboports like crazy, another might plaster everything with granite floor and build railroads all over the map. Those two would have a very diffe...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
... Imagine a scenario where I am deep in the middle of a colossal overhaul project on Nauvis that consumes holmium ore and some stone/concrete. I spot a few production lines needing more raw material. The bottleneck is at Fulgora. Do I stop the overhaul project halfway through and head to Fulgora ...

Re: Friday Facts #363 - 1.1 is getting close
So many excellent GUI improvements, I fear after playing 1.1 I will not be able to play any factorio with a 0.x version number ever again. One obvious improvement is still missing: Making map view just a zoomed out normal view instead of it being a distinct mode. The only reason for the distinction ...

Re: Friday Facts #361 - Train stop limit, Tips and tricks
Nice comeback of the late FFF. As feedback for tips and tricks: As a rule I would say anything having to do with GUI is tips-worthy. Any laws of nature that are different in game than in reality might also be tips-worthy. Anything about the machines and their workings in the game is not tips-worthy....

What a way to leave EA on a high note. At least for us insiders.
Thank you for Factorio. And I'm full of anticipation whatever you plan to do next.

Huge bummer that assembler won't be ready for 1.0 since it's one of the most used assets of the game, but since it's one of the most used assets in the game it's better to have it miss 1.0 than be rushed Whatever they do won't have a chance against the old graphics we learned to love in the last 7 ...

I take bets on when an impossible-to-predict bug is found that came into existance because the bots now throw cliff explosives.

Great visuals with the artillery shells. You did handle the case differently when the shells land on water, right?

Re: Friday Facts #339 - Beacon HR + Redesign process
New design is cool, however I don't feel good about bottom "lightnings". To me, as an engineer electro-mechanist, they look... dangerous. Like something went wrong with insulation and it now discharges onto surrounding, and about to explode. This is not healthy machine design. I'd rather ...

Re: Friday Facts #339 - Beacon HR + Redesign process
The positive thing about the new design is the Eye Candy, I can live with anything that has flashy discharge arcs. But if Wube decides to redesign them, then the following is the right idea: Improving the speed and efficiency of a machine by transmitting 'signals' to it never made much sense to me. ...

Re: Friday Facts #338 - The (real) Character GUI
- We don't know what exactly would be the use for the spidertron. The original idea was it would be a late game vehicle, with almost unrestricted movement. That would be it for a simple solution, adding an equipment grid would be the cheap option to add. However, as a late game thing it should be a...

Re: Friday Facts #337 - Statistics GUI and Mod Debugger
The new UI looks good. Merging the kill stats into the general stats window is a great idea. There's 1 additional thing that I think would be a huge improvement to the power stats: a bar / line for total accumulator charge. It would be really useful to be able to see how your accumulator charge var...

Re: Friday Facts #327 - 2020 Vision
I hate 'playing itself' games. Look at transport fever or any other economy sim. If your first route makes profit why expand at all? The bank account fills without extra work. Factorio is not that type of game. Oh it is in a way. A friend of mine stopped playing the game after having automated rese...

Re: Friday Facts #327 - 2020 Vision
One simple idea for a mini-tutorial, not sure it is new or even that it works, but it might get the player to experience the core game play relatively fast: If the player sets the option to play a tutorial/beginners game, give him a generous starter set consisting of say 3 miners, 3 burner inserters...

Is it me or is the effect much more visible and faster in picture 4 than in picture 1? For me the picture 1 version looks a bit too subtle and unnaturally slow.
