Re: Expansion hype thread - Any updates on when/if there will be an expansion?

Been burned to many times by Devs. Believing is seeing. Sorry to the guys who will hate what I am saying because they maybe see Wube/ factorio as cant do wrong. [...] Look, the DLC releases in 4 months or the likes. You can surely wait until after the release. By then more Dev diaries will be out, ...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music

I don't know this must also take into account the relative speed of the platform and the asteroids, as if the platform move faster than any asteroid, then the "back" doesn't need any defence against incoming debris. I'm thinking of the triangular shaped starwars super destroyer. It would ...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music

I like the rocket turrets in the video in the space platform, i like the animation of the platform regrowing after getting hit, i think the shape of the platform is not very efficient because it will act like a space sweeper for asteroids, maybe it's the aim, otherwise orienting the rectangle the o...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music

No, just heavier than normal gun turrets. Having finally gotten the chance to watch the video and seeing the rocket turrets, those could be it (or there could be more). But they're not firing many rockets, so they could be low on ammo? And the platform may be moving a wee bit fast to give everythin...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music

Artillery clearly is unlocked: On one of the planets you can clearly see a rail artillery car moving with a train. Doesn't necessarily suggest that it is the same savegame because I am sure they have dozens of savegames in various states of a "typical" playthrough. At least I would not se...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music

Also that is one big frikkin Asteroid. How are you supposed to defend against those, the ton of Gun Turrets was clearly not enough! Probably have to upgrade the damage output or more likely... artillery. Maybe artillery isn't unlocked on that save yet to blast that one to pieces before it enters th...

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music

Ah nice. The Vulcanus one is like "You were my brother Anakin, I loved you!" Or at least I expect them to have their duel somewhere along the lava shores. Full orchestral for a factory builder is kinda a bit unexpected. Maybe a bit too overly dramatic, but maybe that is just me. ^^ I like ...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

As I understand it will not always be the lowest quality output if you mix ingredient qualities. Without quality modules you will always get the quality of your lowest ingredient. Is that written somewhere already? ^^ Anyway if that is the case and how it will work then I will blatantly say that it...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality

I’ve seen people say that you can mix ingredients quality and the output will be the lowest, is that correct because I’ve skimmed the FF page and can’t see it? It would solve the issue that I’m having with the quality mod where I’m getting too much of one level quality ingredient and not enough of ...

Re: Friday Facts #405 - Whole belt reader, New logistics GUI

Faster subsequent rocket launches = nope - if you make the expansion such way that more rockets is needed, then rather add new tech, more tonnage ( item capacity) technology to research. - start of a rocket should stay a precious moment, always. Do not add inflation, rather make it even more precio...

Re: Friday Facts #402 - Lightspeed circuits

It's actually more trivial than that. You can just decide that any object with an y coordinate "higher" than the foundry's top position appears behind it, and everything else appears in front of it. Looks like inserters just have a higher z index than the foundry, but making it variable d...

Re: Friday Facts #402 - Lightspeed circuits

The two inserters behind the Foundry grabbing gears from on top of the Foundry look weird clipping through the Foundry graphic. Untitled.png https://forums.factorio.com/28783 Because this is a 2D game faking 3D, you can't have them behind the Foundry on one side while on top of them on the other......

Re: Friday Facts #402 - Lightspeed circuits

I guess for most of my circuit network stuff having 1 channel for each green/red will suffice. Mostly I am going to use it for trying to dynamically adjust the priorities of trainstops for outposts depending on how much ore there is left in an outpost in relationship to total ore of all outposts so ...

Re: Friday Facts #386 - Vulcanus

I can see the gravity having an influence on how much load a single rocket can carry to space and/or how much rocket fuel a rocket would consume for a given load. Reminder : we'll have a new weight system for rockets (https://factorio.com/blog/post/fff-382). I hope it will just require different am...

Re: How do YOU use mining drills?

No one uses productivity modules? Even if you have +140% productivity via research, the +30% are still 12.5% more ore, that's not so negligeable. Of course it means you have to build your mining outpost twice, to allow space for speed beacon, so you don't waste power, but I think ~ +10% is good. Al...

Re: Article Series About Smooth Factory Function and Factory Optimization Techniques

Not sure if that's already been said, but linear optimisation could help. Although the typical case is more for scenarios like the game Satisfactory, where you can make different products from materials, or products from different materials. Factorio is simpler because there are few alternative rec...

Re: Exploring New Strategies for Efficient Smelting

Welcome to the community. ^^ What’s your preferred smelting setup and why? Productivity Modules in the electric smelter rows, Speed Modules in the beacon rows (hooked up to some circuit network to shut them off when the smelters are idling). As simple as that. Because it is the most efficient setup....
