(My own opinion is that even 'S', let alone 'SS' or 'SSS', is symptomatic of unplanned extensions to a range. You designed a range with, say, 'A' to 'D', and then find later that you need a higher grade than 'A', so have to improvise. Adding such things in at the start is pointless.) You don't watc...

A graph for the difference of supply and demand would be useful. I produce and consume ~10k iron plates per minute so the graphs look pretty much identical. But do I produce 10.1k iron plates per minute and consume only 9.9k iron plates per minute? Or the other way around? There is no way to tell. ...

I get into issues only when I try to max out every flow capacity possible with "megabase" level oil facilities. On setups where I don't need absolute maximal throughput, Fluid system works just fine.

TL;DR Inserters should be able to use a stacksize set by the signal of the item they pick up. @OP : I'll link a couple threads hereunder.
