Re: Fish per Minute

Unfortunately it is impossible to automatically insert more than 12 fish (one stack inserter's-worth). As soon as the 12 fish are inserted, the rocket launch starts and no more can be inserted. You can, of course, insert 100 by hand and receive 100 fish. Put 100 science packs in a box, cut power to...

Good thing we can't spam an oil field with beacons in real life, eh?

Re: Version 1.1.0

Holy wow.. popped in for a look at the release state and ran into a wall of text. This patch is well beyond epic. :) I don't suppose medium poles have had their radius increased by one recently to help keep the power grid tidy and to actually be a good option over having to use two overlapping small...

Re: Blueprint Library Feedback

They addressed the concerns very well in Friday Facts #356 . Also, since some of the concerns relate to the nature of the quickbar (it's not an inventory), in Friday Facts #278 . I don't think there's really anything else they need to say on the matter and probably can't more than fuel the fire. It'...

Re: Blueprint Library Feedback

I can create a blueprint and it's in my hotbar/inventory. After the hotbar's change in behaviour (v17?), you can no longer consider it in the same way as an inventory. I suspect this is an underlying cause of the game behaving contrary to your expectation. The hotbar never contains items (blueprint...

There's an ending? I always seem to stop playing for a while before I reach a point where I might stop demolishing and rebuilding in different ways.. and this is typically well after I have multiple nuclear facilities. /shrug

Belts are practically the only linkages anyhow, and building layered spaghetti would be absurd.

Re: What happens after 1.0 release?

Maybe someday there will be a 2.0 version in 3d. Which will be much better than the other Game which will not be named. Hope not, but who knows.. perhaps it would be great for its own reasons and enough people would love it to justify the time and energy to create it. But 3d isn't always better and...

Re: Friday Facts #351 - Beacon re-redesign & Simplified fluid mixing

Excellent change in beacon design! I like the ideas of reversing the electric animation and merging adjacent beacons. Still with the spike, though it's much better than in the red design. I wonder if taking the shorter antennae from that design would have been better, especially if they arc between ...

Re: Factorio Paper Cuts

Medium electric pole coverage radius is one tile short from actually being useful in most places (instead of being stuck with a pole-spam choice of two medium or two small poles to accomplish the same thing). Not if you set up your assemblers to account for them, then they're the exact right size. ...

Re: Just bought the game; What were Your first impressions?

Electricity can become slightly complicated if you want to isolate circuits.. And also extremely tedious in some cases where you want to isolate rows of assemblers that share beacons because even with the smallest poles it can require manually snipping and reconnecting the wires between specific po...

Re: Meaningful Content Update

I realize it's a small team and making a quality game takes time, but sometimes I have to wonder if your priorities are in the wrong place. I really don't care about better switches, or railroading pathing, mod debugging, ect. After years of small updates the game needs some more meat on its bones ...

Re: Train mods; will additional train logic be implemented?

Being able to toggle stations is great, but the available features in vanilla still don't allow fully automating anything but fairly simple situations without some crazy complex circuitry and/or jumping through hoops. I'd very much like to see an event condition, perhaps which sits outside the usual...

Re: 0.18, bus, orphan trains.

I have made a bit more progress on my base, which now has just over 4GW of available power, and I have noted a few more things. Not a big fan of dummy stations, and I'm not sure they're needed now that trains will return to their unload stacker if loading stations are all disabled. I don't recall tr...

Re: 0.18, bus, orphan trains.

Nobody ever said that you have to run everything through the main bus. There are plenty of streamers who provide dedicated smelters for the circuit production, and route the green circuits for the red ones outside the bus. It doesn't necessarily start that way right from the beginning, but can deve...

0.18, bus, orphan trains.

I wanted to see all the fancy new changes so I started over on a rail world and figured that, while I was at it, I might as well try to revisit some old problems and presumptions. The polish that has gone into 0.18 is amazing. I'm loving the new assets and UX, though I fear for the beacons in some w...
