Re: Friday Facts #327 - 2020 Vision

I'm stopping by to say that my blown gasket is clearly not worth replacing from over a year ago, when the developers lost both the plot and their conscience (the most recent vestiges of which I've seen remain the refusal to do sales and somewhere I encountered a promise never to do the EGS exclusive...

Re: Friday Facts #266 Censorship/Moderation Behaviour

Wube Software, I'm still waiting for that official response. I know I live in a world where it is now far too much to ask people to follow their own rules and apply them consistently in their areas of authority, and to explain to those who want to keep you happy what exactly about their behaviour is...

Re: Friday Facts #266 Censorship/Moderation Behaviour

Update: I had a post deleted from this location without any notification. That's the end of it. There is really no point in me ever logging into this forum again. It is a complete waste of my time with this happening.

Re: Feedback

In vanilla, AM1's cannot use fluids as inputs, so you would need to go to AM2's. The only real reason to upgrade the Assembling Machines is for speed and more modules to insert. Good point, assuming that's still the case in 0.17. The counterpoint is, of course, that very few assembly machine recipe...

Re: Friday Facts #266 Censorship/Moderation Behaviour

This "controversy" only exists because of forum limitations: the inability to disagree quietly . On reddit, I can downvote without replying. Finally an intelligent response. The structure of the forum does contribute to the problem, but this is not a good defense of the moderation behavio...

Re: Feedback

I decided to follow what the base game does and follow the removal of the limits across the board. That's a major bummer. I think it's a brilliant progression mechanic and the major motivator to automation research and machine upgrading. While less cleverly used in Bob's Mods, it is even more impor...

Re: Friday Facts #266 Censorship/Moderation Behaviour

As requested by Klonan to move the discussion of Wube's strange moderating behaviour and the associated responses to the modding community's reaction to the FFF#266 issues, I am still awaiting a proper response to the issues raised. The removal of the axe is nothing compared to this disgusting and i...

Re: Feedback

Bob, I've seen you struggling in the FFF threads to absorb all the insanity coming down the pipe for 0.17. Wube seems to really be MGTOW with the vanilla game with complete disregard for the huge modding community now along for the bumpy ride. And they locked the axe modding thread . I'm starting to...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

I'm actually rather pleased when seeing the more vitriolic responses because the arguments behind them tend to be weak and misleading, and that means I'm winning at the level of intellectual satisfaction. Reading these topics for a while now... I wondered, what's your motivation, but this statement...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

Dude. It's not a game that we're playing so that you can win, so don't take that attitude toward it. This is a clear sign you don't know what "intellectually satisfaction" is. It's not about winning in an adversarial sense, it's about being knowledgeable and correct in understanding. Quic...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

Ok, fine. One more, since this isn’t what I meant. They certainly have the right to delete accounts or completely destroy the forum. It sounded like you were agreeing with 5HM in that it was reasonable. I've never intended to say that Wube doesn't have the "right" to do anything they have...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

A private company cannot be reasonably accused of censorship, ... They can shut the entire site down. They can ban you, delete your account, and wipe all of your posts. The fact that they haven't shows who here is being unreasonable. ...well, all I can say is you have a very funny definition of &qu...

Regardless my main point is that comparing factorio to AAA games is deeply insulting to factorio. I'm not here to argue stocks.
It should be. I'm hoping they will once again start proving that it actually is.

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

As to the censorship rants, those are silly and stupid. This is a forum run by a gaming company, they have every right to moderate it as they see fit, including removing or merging posts. Especially if the topic has been bleeding all over the place... That doesn't mean it's good for their business,...

These are a few posts I found where the discussion about the pickaxe removal where there was no discussion before. Yeah, about that "no discussion before" part... *ahem* ...there was axe-related discussion before in the first two threads. https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?p=391595...

Do you seriously expect me to believe that having places where censorship is not happening is an excuse for doing it in other places?

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

The hardest test for any liberal community is someone like featherwinglove. The ones who do censor stuff, have so much an easier time dealing with ankle-biters and trolls... The most interesting direction this conversation can take, and I have this feeling it's fairly likely, is that you and Cyonic...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics

The removal of the axe is nothing compared to this disgusting and insulting censorious behaviour. Closing topics when they become off-topic is not the same as censorship. In the case under discussion, the discussion of modding of axes and mining hardness was shut down. That goes well beyond mere mo...
