Who made this 8 belt inline balancer?

I've searched the internet, blueprint database, and the forums, but I can't seem to find this design anywhere, let alone the original posting. I'm trying to find out who made this (or contributed in the case of several) because I like to put the designers in the blueprint names. https://i.imgur.com/...

Re: Set chain signals to red via circuit network

So should I report the bug separately? What coppercoil describes is not a bug. :) it’s a suggestion. As I described and showed in my posts, the trains never use both paths simultaneously, even though they are separately signalled, unless a bit of rail at the bottom is removed, which should have no ...

Re: Set chain signals to red via circuit network

It's for 1-8-1 trains. The trains coming in at the top left all have the occupied stop set as destination. The signals are wired to block the stacker with more trains in it. In the second image, the left stacker is green (except for the occupied lane), and the right one is red. The trains have all c...

Re: I want to play factorio but I lack a goal

You have to want to play the game badly enough to come up with a way to play it yourself, nobody can tell you how to play. I mostly just make blueprints with creative mode, then see how useful they are in an actual game, then go back to designing.

Re: [POLL] Left- or Right- hand rails and roads?

Well I didn't move it, it started that way because it's fewer rails. Edit: I tried remaking my 4 lane 4-way intersection with 4 tile spacing, LHD is the same size and 16 rails cheaper, 512 instead of 528, I slightly reduced the inner circle. Neither one can be directly signalled as the other. The co...

There's many ways to make 3-way intersections, for different lane spacings. Whenever there is a signal spot on one side, there is also a spot on the other side, inside and outside of curves, unless there's another rail blocking it.

Re: Set chain signals to red via circuit network

Just because I want to control a signal with combinators, doesn't mean I don't want it to also be a chain signal. They are not mutually exclusive. I will give an example where I need to control a chain signal with circuits. I have a 4 lane unloading station, that needs to allow 2 simultaneous paths ...

I knew I recognized it from somewhere. I'll probably forget by tomorrow that it's Mr. Fusion and wonder again.

Re: [POLL] Left- or Right- hand rails and roads?

I mostly assumed, and very non-extensively tested, that right hand drive had more options for signalling intersections. With LHD, all of the signals have to be inside the intersection, including the "easy" turn (left for LHD), and the "hard" turn would need signals inside the cur...

Re: What is the optimal gap (and direction) between rails?

I have a book of compact fully signalled 4-way 2-railroad junctions of every spacing from 0 tiles to, I think 10, all right hand drive. So, any spacing would be fine for intersections. I didn't bother exploring left hand, I imagine the equivalents to most designs would be inferior. My conclusion was...

Re: What's Wrong With My Water Flow?

I think your mistake is, each pipeline can only handle so much water. I limit it to 18 boilers on a single water pipeline, with one offshore pump, no small pumps needed. Also like Serenity said, turbines are meant for much hotter steam, two steam engines instead can use the full power output of a bo...

Re: Core game balancing

Steel furnaces are not much more expensive than stone, considering inserters and belts, and they save time and space to put down. They are simple and cheap to use in place of stone furnaces. The advantage may be slight, but so is the cost, and so I think they are worthwhile, at least for new smeltin...

Re: Climate Change

It's inevitable that ecosystems, along with the natural regulatory systems of our world, will become increasingly destabilized in the coming centuries. The result will likely be extreme weather and temperature, famine, and a rate of mass extinction that puts the current one caused by a century of in...

Re: Rant about universal strategies (main busses)

I've never once used the "main bus" thing, it conflicts with my style. I use larger optimized blueprints designed in advance, and deliver whatever raw-ish resources are needed directly to where I know they'll be needed. Outside of the designs, I restrict myself to shuffle only basic bulk m...

Re: Fluid Optimization not fixed for release?

A lot of it is just aesthetic in practice, but there are actual problems too. The most apparent problems for me came from experimenting with nuclear, while draining all the power with radars. Some rows of turbines had steam to spare, others had many turbines that were completely idle, causing the de...

Re: Fluid Optimization not fixed for release?

To this day, any design I make with fluids is constantly foiled by the fluid physics. Is there any practical example in which there are problems? Mostly, it's problems where one pipe segment has nothing in it, even while fluid is flowing through it and it's neighbors have plenty, starving anything ...
