Re: wetware or software issue?: deconstruction bots corner-case behavior

OK, giving this some thought*, here's what I think (maybe) this comes down to -- the analogy between a Spidertrunk and a player's inventory is incomplete, leading to surprising results. Specifically, if a player's inventory is full, the bots will chase their player all over the place trying to retur...

Re: wetware or software issue?: deconstruction bots corner-case behavior

The most obvious manifestation happens if I'm out in the boonies with a company of spider-trons, kicking thorax and taking names. If construction bots run out of spider-trunk/boot storage, they just get stuck there holding their items. They never give up and resume their slow drift towards the near...

Re: wetware or software issue?: deconstruction bots corner-case behavior

They are the spidertron's bots. Here I've broken down and generated a save where the problem is "about" to happen; just sync mods, load, and watch the bots get stuck trying to fulfill deconstruction requests.... hmm, it works just to just provide the .zip corresponding to a save right?

Re: wetware or software issue?: deconstruction bots corner-case behavior

OK suspicion confirmed. I made a vanilla freeplay, and cheated in everything I needed to re-create the circumstances that glitch out my bots as described in OP. The stuck-with-cargo robots don't seem to get stubborn, when unable to deliver. Indeed, stuck-holding-un-deconstructable-cargo construction...

Re: wetware or software issue?: deconstruction bots corner-case behavior

sounds like robots are getting stuck in an out of logistic storage state (like when hovering over a full chest) and not following like when deployed from player inventory, nor being adopted into another network once the spidertron leaves the area. Yes, precisely, cbhj1. Hmm... the fact that nobody ...

wetware or software issue?: deconstruction bots corner-case behavior

I feel like something changed about what happens to construction bots holding items destined for non-available storage in recent versions. Maybe it's just my save, or even my imagination. The most obvious manifestation happens if I'm out in the boonies with a company of spider-trons, kicking thorax ...

Re: Friday Facts #356 - Blueprint library for real

Damn, son! Was not expecting the big idea spigot to open so wide so close to 1.0. Haven't tried the new yet but reading this FFF made me seriously ask myself: do I really need sleep tonight? (Sadly, yes, I really do...

hmm... hmm... HMMMMMMM .....

ok yeah really must sleep unfortunately).

nuclear reactor vs heat pipe collision-box/art consistency nit

To my eyes, if the engineer can walk over heat pipes like they don't exist, then, as they're currently represented, he ought to be able to walk into the middle of a 2 x n grid of nuclear reactors:

Re: NSFF

Well obviously the inserter arm has some special treatment in the z-plane. I am guessing this is to ensure that objects like power poles, train-stops, assemblers, etc. (basically everything else) are not preventing the player from discovering whether some particular inserter is working. That's sensi...

Re: NSFF

The video doesn't work for me Hmm, why am I not surprised? I tried to make it by hand with ffmpeg; excessive unique-snowflake-grade cleverness was involved. Should have just put it in somebody's cloud, I guess. Anyhow it's not important, here's everything you need to know: It depicts the "fact...

NSFF

uhm, not sure how to put this... I'd like to propose, in a manner considerate to the feelings of all persons, with or without genitalia, or equivalent prostheses, of all hues, shapes and sizes, that this not be a thing in factorio:

change "red ink" dynamic on mod install screen?

When a mod's dependencies can't be met in the Mods->Install screen, the background is turned red (or at least that's what I'm assuming it means. To be clear, I approve! However...) I noticed a quirk when trying to re-enable some mods that I had disabled, while waiting for 0.18-compatible versions to...

Re: Hot beverage recipe takedown?

We only wanted the t-shirts and mugs which had a copy of our trademarked logo removed from sale. If those artists would like to rehost their artwork and receive any hassle from the storefront, send us an email and we can try to sort it out, we don't want to infringe on other peoples rights when it ...

Re: Hot beverage recipe takedown?

You know what, it's really not fair of me to keep pleading this guy's case because he himself didn't ask for this (quite the opposite). I intended to bring this to your attention because I thought there had been a mistake. But as apparently there was no mistake (edit: apparently I'm wrong about &quo...

Re: Hot beverage recipe takedown?

Dear golfmiketango, Thank you for your comment. The only action done from my side was against unofficial merchandise which contained Factorio logo. Nothing else. So if there were, for example, hoodies for sale with Factorio logo on them, those were the products I have been targeting to be removed f...

Re: Hot beverage recipe takedown?

Hmm, so, basically, you've gone full IP troll but you're doing it exceedingly respectfully? The guy has simply referred to the color scheme and styling of certain factorio GUI elements in order to make a joke. Unless I'm missing something (and tbc I may well be) it looks like a textbook example of f...

Hot beverage recipe takedown?

Hey, just stumbled onto Xterminator's reddit weekly summary ( https://youtu.be/acgBxYViK9w ) where he in turns stumbles onto this deviantart coffee mug. The author of the mug design seems to believe that Wube requested some sort of copyright takedown against his creation. That really doesn't sound l...

Re: Enable coroutines in data phase?

It's mostly just syntactic sugar, right? Hopefully it's for some kind of good technical reason but somehow I have my doubts. As for a use-case, that's easy. Your mod needs to check 100,000 modded entities for some complicated condition every two minutes. It's going to take a long time; you'd better ...

Re: Friday Facts #303 - Under 100 bugs (but still not stable)

Dear Wube Software, I probably speak for plenty of people here in saying that you guys are much nicer to your customers than the other game companies. Can you please just take over the entire games industry while maintaining your current customer relations, ethics, QA and product quality standards? ...

Re: Train cornering speed limit - variable radius corners

For the record I am so on board with curved-rail variants. Just so long as I don't have to write the code :) BTW the entertainment value of this type of thing can be assessed in Transport Fever (a pretty nifty lookin' game I would probably play if Factorio didn't consume all of my video-game attenti...
