Re: Friday Facts #397 - Factoriopedia

You didn't mention locked / unlocked state at all. I presume in search results, used by, alt recipes etc you see all recipes, it'd be nice if locked stuff was grey'd out and pushed to the end. Also on locked items the tech to unlock is the most important thing. But on unlocked ones it's the least, s...

Re: Friday Facts #394 - Assembler flipping and circuit control

Will an assembler use inputs from the dump slots?
So if I need to do a chain of operations where the output of one is the input of the next can the ingredients stay in the machine or do they need to come out and back in?

Re: Friday Facts #382 - Logistic groups

A thought on recycling and weight. Maybe the weight difference should be a multiplier on recycling yield. If 20kgs of stuff went in to making the item, but the item only weighs 18kgs then 2kg were lost in the assembly process. So absolute best you can only get 18kgs of ingredients back. Which could ...

If there are abstract items for the different cable colours, is there any value in having separate items? Or should it just all be copper wire?

Re: Items per second info on machines.

Thank you @eradicator and @ssilk I was aware of Helmod and Factory Planner already, inline with some of the comments above I feel that at my level they are taking over a bit too much of the puzzle, mostly I just want to get rid of the repetitive error prone math. The other 3 recommendations all look...

The number of bugs those 12 pentagons would cause...

Why not making a true 3D Factorio game to compete against satisfactory?
Why compete, better to be different / unique.

Re: Friday Facts #365 - Future plans

You could call reset on the base mod, wipe the tech tree and all the art. And make another game in the engine using your tool chain. Explore a different point in the design space. Civ 2 vs Alpha Centauri. It's chance to consider if the current research cost ramp is the only way to do progression. A ...

Bot nerf idea

TL;DR One way to nerf bots would be by limiting how many can access a container at once. What ? Sometime back the devs discussed the OP nature of bots and how they are superior to belts in most ways, thus heavily encouraging a late game switch to bot based factories. I was thinking about that and i...

Re: Increase god mode's inventory size ?

The God Controller inventory size is currently hard coded with a nice note above it in the code that says "to do - move this to a prototype" :P Can it be accessed from a mod? I'd like have a key binding to empty it. Never mind I found it, if anyone else ends up here, it's at player.get_ma...

Items per second info on machines.

TL;DR It would be very helpful if machines listed the items per second throughput information for all of their inputs and outputs. What ? In either the sidebar you get when mousing over a machine or somewhere in the machine info window you get when clicking on the machine it would be very useful to...

Re: Factorio Friday Friday Facts #203 - Logistic buffer chest

If buffers always take priority over providers then the opposite side of your base will now start pulling from the buffer instead of the closer provider which is probably not what you want. I think the idea here is that you would have an ammo buffer anywhere close to where you need it. Yes. My poin...

Re: Factorio Friday Friday Facts #203 - Logistic buffer chest

From the diagram it looks like when players, requestors or construction bots are pulling items they will favor buffer chests over passive providers. I think it would be more useful to have buffers and providers have the same priority so that it pulls from the nearest. Imagine you are manufacturing a...

Re: Analog Circuits - Advanced power systems

Steam engines behave oddly in small systems like that. They will actually consume less than 6 water/s if they are operating under max available capacity. What happens is that steam engines will use the full 6 water/s if the water is not fully heated (to pull in hotter water), but if the water is al...
