!!Greetings Factorians!!

Before posting this I reviewed the following thread: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... tate#p7224

That thread proposes several complex ideas on handling rotation.

Proposal: Shift / Control [or configurable key] + R to rotate counter-clockwise. That's it.

Thanks,

Reverse key would be greatly apreciated as i have had to go all the way around for a row of inserters which takes a while,

I found myself needing this a lot when I was making belt-balancers and the such, because you have to hit the R key so much, it's infuriating!

Before it is placed - instead of pressing R several times - press the LMB on the field you want to place it, or any empty field (it should be empty, to place it, right? Exception only if you want to replace an item) and drag some pixels into the direction you want to rotate the item. The item will be rotated into the direction you drag.
This works, even if you hover any other item; the mode doesn't switch to delete/dig.

Edit: could work also on resource-fields...

This would help with curved rails a lot, moving your mouse northwest would rotate the curved rail for the east and southwest turn etc. The only problem will come with... did you get the right placement? (Assuming it places the object also.)

The only real problems to me seem to be Rail Curves, and then rotating already-placed items, e.g. as someone mentioned when there's the need to click R thrice on each of a long row of Inserters.

Both sound good enough to warrant a Shift+R keypress to reverse rotation.

Having played other games with this functionality I still catch myself doing it, especially with rails, go past the one I want and try to go back.
Assemblers using liquids where you want the output on the left... >_<

I would also like to see this implemented. I am used to using TAB and SHIFT TAB to move through dialog boxes.

I remapped rotate to a button on the side of my mouse. As this would be a keybinding I could map the button next to it to rotate back ^^

well you can write a program (or autohotkey script, or whatever language you know, autohotkey is very easy even if you dont know it, some mouses allow creating macro for their buttons, etc) to press "rotate" button 3 times on some button click, which would be backwards rotation. That is ugly solution, but that should work.

Ingame possibilty would be much better.
