car vs cargo wagon

Why is the cargo wagon's capacity about a fifth of the car's?

I think it should be the other way around!

It would be more realistic, but should we change it? If yes, why?

FYI: The wagon has 15 places, the car has 80 places.

I think they should nerf the car's inventory and add a fuel-guzzling bastard of a truck. (my vote is for a mega-futuristic El Camino)

Not sure what that's about, but I agree with your comment above, and your pic looks awesome :) Not sure it fits with the current graphic style though

Or we can have two. The normal car with VERY nerfed storage, and a truck for those remote places when a train is too much hassle

Cars can close the gap between the Logistic bots, the belts and the trains.

Exactly, that's what I thought. But we should have two options, one vehicle for exploring and another one for cargo transport

And the conclusion? Reminds me to OpenTTD: Transporters, which drive on the streets and bring things from cargo station to cargo station.

Streets: why real streets? The transporters need just a cable, which they can follow. I think to something like this: poles on both sides of the street. They mark the street border. The street has two directions, and the transporters just follow the cables from the borders of the street, a street can have many curves. But at any point they cross another street. There are traffic lights or other solutions.

Like the trains, transporters bring items from one place to another. What if they transport normally only 1-2 stacks?

I like this idea.

I'm not convinced that means anything.

Hehe, was too tired to explain it more. See this:

Cars are an improved form of personal logistic, if nothing else. Cars can't be automated, they are particularly fragile, and prone to ramming into things due to the change in control scheme.

Having the huge trunk space is an expansion of my PERSONAL space, and aren't a part of 'base logistics' like the train car.

If I go to an outpost to manually pick up a stockpile of ore, I'd rather have the cars' 80 slot trunk space to then go back in one trip. later on, I can set up a train stop, but in the meantime, the car is an extension of my stone-age bipedal logistics system where I manually move things around.

God this road is bumpy, oh wait this is a biter base, nevermind. :)

LOOOL I giggled!
And I like the idea of 2 (or more) kinds of cars... a "Fast car", a "transport truck" and I think the other one needed is an "armored car", slower than the Fast car (or without any trunk space), but a lot thougher. MAYBE even make it not get damaged by hitting trees, only get slowed down (like almost to a stop).

If you say „slow truck“ then I say „conveyer road“.
Seriously, conveyer roads are funny and useful.

a single train with five wagons has the same 'space' as a car, but can be loaded/unloaded a lot faster (higher throughput), and wholly automated. The only drawback to trains are the huge amounts of space they take up. 4x4 tracks, and huge loading/unloading logistics aren't cheap when it comes to real estate and trying to keep a tight base configuration.

I still want a placeable 'road' to tether the car when driving through my factory, just so the wonky steering doesn't automagically discover the one pole that knocks out the entire power grid.

I agree Zourin; we need petroleum and stone to make Asphalt and we can have some good old roads so I don't feel like I'm drunk behind the wheel anymore :<

Or you know what would be incredible? Steering that's not wonky :P

I like that too!

Also i don't think cargo wagons needs more storage. My only problem was when transporting oil barrels, but that is going to be solved soon with oil wagons :)
