Makes energy production more difficult: coal runs out more quickly and a larger fraction of the coal is wasted on the energy cost of mining the coal, thus seeking more efficient mining becomes important for resource patch longevity. Solar panels are important yet produce only a tenth of the power, so you must build very large solar farms to completely escape having to produce power with fuels. Wood's power output is only slightly reduced, making it a much better contender against coal which helps balance how tedious it is to harvest wood. In the early game as you clear forested areas, you can be collecting fuel at the same time. Mods that assist with wood gathering or production will be very comfortable here, and possibly overpowered. Solid fuel's output is not reduced as much as coal, so it makes a good upgrade for mid-game though it will still run out pretty quick if you don't start getting those solar panels built.

Solar panels are cheaper and steam engines are more expensive. Steam engines are still a very compact source of power, but solar panels have a relatively large space footpint.

Mod offers support and balancing for KS Power, and draws influence from:
Realistic Power by Kenira
Harder Energy by Molay
Capacitors and Batteries by thereaverofdarkness (me)

This mod is a spiritual successor to Molay's Harder Energy which has not received support since factorio 0.12x. It shares some code from Kenira's Realistic Power but is much lighter and more streamlined. Energy values are similar to Harder Energy except wood offers much more. Accumulator and Laser Turret values are taken from Capacitors and Batteries however the capacitors from that mod are not carried over, instead the capacitor accumulators are being made cheaper and they no longer require oil to produce. Code for capacitor accumulator is copied from Realistic Power. Energy is mostly harder but having two kinds of accumulators gives you more options.

KS Power

My intent is to alter the efficiency of KS Power's Oil Steam Boiler and Diesel Generator and the cost and effectiveness of the Wind Turbine but I may not have my math correct and I apologize for that. My initial testing showed the following values:
Oil Steam Boiler efficiency: ~300%
Diesel Generator efficiency: ~32% (vs. converting oil to solid fuel and using in 100% eff. boiler + steam engine)
Wind Turbine 2 power output: ~20kW average

The values I am aiming for:
Oil Steam Boiler efficiency: ~66%
Diesel Generator efficiency: ~60%
Wind Turbine 2 power output: ~2kW average

This would make the Oil Steam Boiler a decent efficiency upgrade over the regular boiler, while its primary purpose is to make boiler setups more compact and grant higher/faster water to steam throughput. This would make the Diesel Generator a significant upgrade over the burner generator in terms of efficiency (Burner Generator is ~40%), but also would provide very high power output for a comparatively small space. It would no longer make such wasteful use of valuable petroleum gas. Finally, the Wind Turbine will produce about 2/3rds of the power of a solar panel over the long term and individually will cost more but will take less time to make each unit and is available at the start.
