Re: Friday Facts #393 - Putting things on top of other things
I never use any belts except top unlocked tier, and have auto-recycling foreverything else. Does not make sense to produce additional clutter.

I do have my pitchforks ready, if yall are not upgrading bots as well.
Point to point on demand logistics and trains is what differentiates factorio from other similar games, not faster belts.

I wish there would be a button to force mine alignment for aesthetical reasons, if landmines are to be aesthetical.

I find the checkerboard pattern easier to work with, especially on corners.
Otherwise a nice writeup, good job.

No, we had only Vim, and thankfully now we have something designed around UX this time, instead of vimNotRexButCaesar wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 9:30 pmIf Factorio is like programming, you just added Vim, when before we only had notepad.

Re: Friday Facts #392 - Parametrised blueprints
Very cool! Will there be a possibility for the said parameters to affect the tiling of the blueprint?
Let's say a blueprit for a solar field, or a railway, where I change a parameters, and the blueprint gets tiled?

Re: Steamworks Dynamic Cloud Sync
It specifically says that the feature is free. Also, cloud sync has been working flawlessly since day 1, unless you insist on manually changing stuff, and ignore the limitations. Happened to me once. Cloud Sync was definitely the one and only reason switching to steam release for me, when it got int...

Hou-hou-hou! We really need that snowy sprites and Christmas Tree in-game! I assume that these snowy sprites are a sneak preview of the next planet and its particle effect covering all sprites with snow. That is also what I think, really curious if that is the case. Weather effects and weather in g...

Re: Friday Facts #387 - Swimming in lava
The Problem with the Big Drill is not really the resource drain modifier (that one is actually fine) but the insane coverage it has, enabling a LOT of beacon based shenanigans that were simply not logical to use with the normal Mining Drill, unless you wanted to shift the Mining Drills over by a fe...

Sadly, you can not, but you can create the green upgraders, and stick them in the book with your lower-level contraption, configured as desired

Absolutely, agree on all points. For me the moment where it gets boring is quite long into a specific game. In the first couple hundred hours in a save it is fun and strategic, as you say.

Re: How can people play without infinite resource mod?
I agree. If you go past a single rocket launch or so, then you have three factors going for you that other people already mentioned: 1. greatly increased mining productivity, 2. ore patches get really huge as you move away from your starting point, and 3. blueprinting mines makes it simple. Heck, i...

Re: How can people play without infinite resource mod?
This is a short but delicate question that's been on my mind for years. How can people play Factorio without the inf mod that turns ores depletion into oil depletion? As in, instead of having an integer, it's a decreasing yield percentage. I can't imagine having to move all my mining fields , cable...
