You know that you can customize the controls, right?
I have the same issue, where my middle mouse button doesn't clear quickbar items properly.
But my mouse has several buttons, so I just reassigned that action to a different button.

This doesn't appeal to me at all. I'd want it to be optional and off by default.
There's also an element of creepiness in the idea of the game tracking my stats, even in an aggregated sense, but maybe that's just because I've lived in privacy-paranoid Germany too long.

Can't that already be done? You can assign most actions to the keyboard or a mouse button. You can even do both, as each action has two shortcut options.
