Re: [1.1.62] update broke audio on linux
Fair point about not stating which driver is used on Linux. Me being a Linux noob, after testing three different Linux setups that worked out of the box with pulseaudio-alsa and pipewire-alsa configurations, I thought it won't be such an issue. I'll post the driver info in the Release news post at l...

Re: [1.1.62] Crash after high memory usage
This is related to the new SDL audio backend and your 5.1 channel configuration.
While I'll troubleshoot this, can you try setting your audio interface to stereo?

Re: Version 1.1.62
In the meantime it's possible to switch back to the previous Allegro audio backend. Ctrl-Alt-Click settings => The rest => audio-backend => set to "allegro" and then restart the game. Or you can edit the config.ini, search for audio-backend and change that line to "audio-backend=alleg...

Re: Version 1.1.62
Improving the audio clarity when a lot is going on (big enemy attacks) is definitely on our radar and in progress. The mixer itself won't do much there. When it comes to massive number of anything producing sounds, you might be hitting the hard limit on the number of sounds that can play at the same...

Re: [1.0.0] Audio issue when Windows audio sample rate set above 352.8KHz
More out of curiosity than anything else, does changing the audio backend to sdl behave differently, as in this similar topic https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?p=566986#p566986 ? I have no practical way of troubleshooting theses issues at the moment so I would agree with Rseding, with anythi...

Re: combat soundtrack?
We discussed something similar a while ago and it came down to the problem of defining what is considered combat. Basically what ssilk said, the last thing we want is to play some epic combat music when there's a single biter nibbling on a wall somewhere. So it's a no for automatic combat music. You...

Re: [1.1.53] Crash using external audio interface
I would need to dig into it to try to find the actual problem, unfortunately I don't have a way to reproduce this problem on my own. It was just a try to see what happens. The audio backend is a library that is responsible for sending data to the audio interface/hardware. Factorio uses Allegro audio...

Re: [1.1.53] Crash using external audio interface
Is there any difference if you use SDL audio backend (Ctrl-Alt-Click settings => The rest => audio-backend and then restart the game. Or you can edit the config.ini, search for audio-backend and change that line to "audio-backend=sdl", no semicolon at the beginning)?

Re: Spitter attack wave breaks sound playback
Off the top of my head I'm no sure how a sound that starts playing gets interrupted unless you go out of audible range. If you have a save or a clip with this specific behaviour, I'd look into it more. In general, yes, with an attack wave you can easily hit the maximum sounds limit and there's nothi...

Re: "Simulation" Sound bug?
If you post a clip of the issue you're having and your config, I can look further, but as far as I can tell the simulation volume setting is working correctly.
Just to be sure we're on the same page, the simulation volume refers to the main menu background simulations.

Re: [Donion] [1.1.48] Menu music doesn't play
We can consider it.
Out of curiosity, could you elaborate why do you prefer it playing only once? Do you often find yourself in the main menu for a long time?

Re: Cargo-wagon and artillery-wagon's working_sound doesn't work
Thank you for the report. The issues with artillery wagon's working sound has been fixed internally already but is not scheduled for release at the moment. The cargo wagon does play its working_sound, however it's very quiet, I'd have to check if that was fixed already as well. If not, we'll do anot...
