Re: Friday Facts #164 - Nuclear power
It's really simple, everyone. Any time there's a large amount of energy contained in a small amount of space, and that energy is released in an uncontrolled event, it's essentially an explosion. A nuclear detonation in a nuclear power station is almost certainly "impossible" unless somethi...

Interesting as usual :) There really should must be a spectacularly bad consequence for letting a reactor overheat.. Perhaps even long term consequences? .... Can't wait :) I suggest a fork-bomb, memory grab, or some parallel mandelbrot calculation device on the CPU of the machine - literally melt ...

Many early boiler setups use a mechanism of taking coal off a belt, placing it in the boiler, and then on the other side have another inserter removing the coal and placing it in a parallel boiler - a-la: http://i.imgur.com/rsP3wA5.jpg (Picture from: https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&am...

Wait what? Biter fueled trains? You, I like you :) We'd only need something akin Necron Spyders for harvesting and processing purposes :) There is that legend that mummies in the Egyption desert used to get exposed after wind-storms, and that the railway folk used to collect them and use the mummie...

Man, 0.15 is going to break so much of my mods  Life at the bleeding edge. Called that for a reason. I believe your'e not alone in your concerns for the impact on modders... hell, your mods are awesome, and prolific, and so many other things to boot. And, you've carefully not actually complain...

When it comes to resource sinks, is the rocket not a large one? I've not yet managed to construct one, so I don't know exactly how demanding it is, or do people just want to give their labs something to do as well? The rocket is demanding, true. It's a good sink for a number of resources. What the ...

I think it would be more interesting if we had different kind of resource sinks, perhaps ones that can be used for a more tangible benefit, possibly under the player's use.... ... I find producing research to satisfy endless marginal increases in power/efficiency/whatever even less interesting than...

Awesome as usual! When is 0.15 scheduled to be released? They're still looking to hire more help for development (UI design). A release date is not really something to expect at this point. ^^ well, that UI position would surely be a contributor for a 1.0.0 release, and not the 0.15.x release? No? ...

Wood is an un-automatable resource to collect. Requiring it for tracks is a problem because you can't "mine" wood. Allowing for a "synthetic" wood-production system (say, concrete allowing for concrete "ties" instead of wood "ties") would be a good option, tho...

I second all of TheTom's train suggestions, and add that it would be great to have a set of train rules that are defined outside the train - the stations to stop at, the wait conditions, etc. Then, when placing a train on the rails, you can assign the rule-set to the train. Also, changing the rule-s...

Re: Friday Facts #160 - Playtesting
A small improvement that would make using modules a whole lot easier, would be to have some form of shortcut that allows you to swap modules in assemblers/furnaces/etc. You can Ctrl-click an assembler while holding modules, and that will install them (or upgrade them), but you can't uninstall them, ...

About PvP In a sense, it's all about player demands and skills, though. Personally, I am not much of a "combat" type player. I play Factorio because it gives me the ability to think through logistics problems, and solve a long-running process using smart strategies, and so on. I like that,...

Also note that you can "attach" an image to the post ("Upload Attachment"), and then you can include that in the post too.... (after attaching it, press the "Place inline" button) for example, like this:

You actually have to use the energy, it can't just sit idle. Having the capacity to produce the energy is not the same as actually producing it...
So, build up a whole lot of electric furnaces, throw in some beacons, and actually use the power.

Re: Question on accumulators and circuits
Any one accumulator can represent the state of all accumulators if you assume/ensure: - all of the accumulators have been at 100% or 0% together - establishing a baseline for all accumulators for the entire power network - no accumulators have been added/removed since that baseline was established -...

Names of multiplayer games, and players
Is there a policy/mechnanism in place for the names that players have, or their actual games? I am surprised, and uncomfortable seeing things like this on the multiplayer sharing site: Capture.PNG Capture2.PNG Is this, and other provocative names something that is allowed/monitored/whatever? What's ...
